Why am I here?

Like so many young folks, I was into the music of my youth, and what a time and a place-Los Angeles in the 50’s and 60’s.
Playing guitar and progressing up the musical ladder from garage bands to cover bands and finally being a part of an “up and coming” funk/blues/rock combo.
We opened for some Biggies: Three Dog Nite, Frank Zappa/The Mothers of Invention, Lightnin Hopkins, Taj Mahal, The Flying Burrito Brothers and a weekend gig backing up Bo Diddly.

The band eventually broke up and I left L.A. looking for something……Ended up in Champaign Illinois in 1972, I tried some new things and learned some new skills. I became a motorcycle mechanic, did some home building, remodeling and woodworking, then went to trade school and became a machinist.
I still had my guitar and at one point in my life I realized that I really loved the guitar itself as much as I had loved the music.

I started tinkering with guitars about 1995 and become more involved with each passing year. In 2008 I retired from 26 years as a precision machinist in order to establish a “Guitar Workshop” in central Illinois, to provide on site repairs, adjustments and modifications.

2019 brought me to Midlothian, Virginia, a new chapter in life and the establishment of "Guitarnutz".

It has been said that “if you find what you love to do, you will never have to work again”.
That is why I’m here.
