Kind words from former patrons

I've used Hector at The Guitar Workshop on a couple of solid body electric guitars replacing jacks, pots, nuts, etc. and found his pricing super reasonable! Recently I took my 'special' baby to him for MAJOR luthier work...a late 30's Kalamazoo KG-14 which required a new bridge and some minor cracks that needed stabilization. Hector doesn't consider himself a luthier, but you'll never convince me! He's a true artisan and the work he performed on my vintage K-14 was OUTSTANDING! I've been playing for close to fifty years and I can only say it's GREAT having someone like Hector nearby to take care of my collection of axes. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GUITAR WORKSHOP and Hector Trevino, owner/luthier/artist. Any verification of this review can be confirmed via emailing me at [email protected] or by phone, (847)902-8338.

Hector did some work on my mandolin recently and the job turned out perfect. Hector has always gotten the instruments back to me before the estimated time and his prices have always been a bargain for the quality of work that he turns out. Thanks again Hector!!! Chuck Sweitzer

I found this really great '70s Hondo HD-28, so much copied of a Martin HD-28 that it is scary. However, it of course is not a Martin HD-28 and so, though I knew it needed a neck reset, I hesitated to put too much into it. I called Hector Trevino and explained the situation. He was glad to work within my budget and did a masterful neck reset, plus repaired a damaged bridgeplate, leveled and crowned the frets, cut and fit a new bone saddle and nut, all within budget. He is really amazing and I recommend him highly. Plus, he's a really nice human being as well!

I had Hector install a Bigsby on my telecaster recently. He also adjusted the neck and pickups and got it playing/sounding better than it ever has. I would highly recommend him to anyone, and will be continue taking guitars to him in the future. He does great work for a reasonable price!

Hector did great work on my Martin. He discovered the cause of a buzz that had been bothering me for over a year. He also gave an overall neck setup and the guitar sounds and plays better than ever. I highly recommend going to Hector. Fair prices and cares about your stuff just as much as you do.

I had a bit of fret buzz and he took care of it perfectly. I'll be bringing my other guitars to him whenever I need help. For guitar lovers, there is one more reason that we should love this town. Compared to his perfect work, he charges too little. :) Absolutely great experience.

Finally got to look over and, more importantly, play my Strat for a bit tonight. Wow, what a difference the set-up work you did made. So much more playable! String radius and intonation are spot on and the new nut looks good too. The best part is how well it stayed in tune after some extreme string bending. Thanks so much for the fast turn around and reasonable pricing Hector!

Hector is the only guitar tech I trust to work on my instruments. His attention to detail is phenomenal, and his work is precise. I've had at least 10 guitars in Hector's shop over the years, for a wide range of work - from fret replacements to bridge work to restoration. I have always been more than happy with the quality of work, which comes at at very reasonable price.
He is transparent about the work involved and the price you expect to pay, and always works to find the best solution. I wholeheartedly recommend working with Hector and The Guitar Workshop.
